The Karkonosze Mountains are one of the most interesting mountain regions in Central Europe in terms of both tourism and nature. In the area of the ancient mountains you can find characteristic rock formations, unique forest ecosystems, alpine animals and plants, including endemic species and post-glacial relicts. There are about 1300 species of plants, among them 27 endemic. The animals include deer, roe deer, mouflons, wild boars, foxes and badgers.
Karkonosze are also priceless monuments, which can be found in many places. In the Jeleniogórska Valley there is the highest density of castles, manors and palaces in Poland (and apparently even in Europe)!
The pearl of the region - the health resort in Cieplice - is famous for its therapeutic use of healing waters. The hot springs in Cieplice have a water temperature of up to 90 degrees Celsius - and they are the hottest springs in Poland!
