What characterises Podlasie is silence, peace, beautiful green landscapes, full of virgin forests, rivers and backwaters, and all this rich in valuable and characteristic for Poland representatives of flora and fauna! Nature plays the first fiddle here. Podlaskie has the most protected areas of all provinces in Poland. Four national parks - Białowieski, Biebrzański, Narawiański and Wigierski - are enclaves of biodiversity and unique areas on the European scale. Białowieski National Park is the last in Europe deciduous primeval forest, i.e. a forest ecosystem untouched by human activity.
Podlasie is a fusion of nature with interesting architecture, monuments, and at the same time with exoticism, which you will not find in any other corner of the country. You can admire unusual architecture on the Trail of Open Shutters and beautiful mosques built by the Polish Tatars.
